CLUB CHIPS - Community Youth Leaders United for Better Health is a peer health education and youth leadership development program that utilizes the performing arts to teach. The CLUB CHIPS after school and summer program annually trains 10-12 Peer Health Educators, ages 14-18, who present original creative health education presentations, vignettes and workshops to audiences of several hundred children and adults per year. They promote awareness of health and wellness issues, increase health literacy and promote healthy lifestyles.
CLUB CHIPS programs have been presented to over 13,000 individuals since 2001. The teens receive a stipend, and for many, it is their first employment experience

CLUB CHIPS uses journal writing, drawing/fabric painting, movement and improvisation to explore the causes and consequences of issues that confront young people today. Researchers have found that:
TOURING PROGRAM
Currently, the touring program presents at area schools and churches. Four shows use drama, dance and music to chronicle the challenges of growing up in an inner-city neighborhood:
Childhood bullying
Conflict management
Nutrition
Teenage depression
Peer pressure
Substance abuse
Teen pregnancy
HIV/AIDS prevention
Presentations are followed by interactive workshops that deepen the understanding of the message and the information delivered in the theatrical piece. Improvisational games and group discussions give audience members a chance to ask questions and express their feelings.
To participate in CLUB CHIPS you must:
Be between the ages of 14 and 18.
Have an interest in health services, the sciences, social services and/or the arts.
Enjoy acting, public speaking, singing, dancing, visual art and creative writing.
Teach other teens about health and social issues by performing in plays and leading workshops.
Demonstrate leadership skills.
